Concrete Repair

Modern concrete is an amazing material that has transformed our world forever, but it's not invulnerable to forces and the environment. Like everything else, with time it will experience wear and tear and need to be repaired. Excellent installation at the offset of the concrete structure's life will extend its longevity but no matter how properly or improperly the concrete's installation was done, if you have damaged concrete, we can most likely fix it. The main question when it comes to repair is the age old question of repair vs replace. Is it financially worth it to repair an old concrete form to extend the life when the cost of new installation would be negligibly more and reset the lifespan completely. The answer depends on your situation, and we are always happy to give our professional recommendation. Feel free to contact us by phone or email to get your free inspection and quote!

Concrete Crack Repair

One of the most commonly experienced elements is a crack. Cracks can be caused by many things, from stress to an easy shifting of the concrete structure's settling to the ground. Although there are many types of cracks, the most common is a "spider web crack". This type of cracking is typically seen in large slabs that have settled, causing enough stress to cause multiple areas of very thin but long damage. Other forms of concrete cracks come from other things, such as tree roots that have been allowed to grow uninterrupted and weaken the concrete to a crack if too much growth has occurred. Sometimes these cracks aren't so easy to see and can be found when water begins pooling in an area of the slab or when very thin pieces of concrete begin flaking off. It's very important to be sure of the cause and severity of the crack. Sometimes you'll find that a simple injection with a material such as "concrete crack sealant" is all that needs to be done (we carry this product at our store). Other times, depending on how extensive it is, we would recommend either repairing or replacing the damaged slab. Surface repairs and crack injections are cheap and easy to do, so we recommend keeping them covered as long as possible, even if it's just to put a bandage over the problem and keep the water out until you can afford more extensive repairs.

Concrete Driveway Repair

One of the best choices in driveway material is concrete. However, like with any large investment, if you put it in at one point in time and expect it to last forever, you may be disappointed when you look down the road at all the repairs that need to be done. Although there are many things that can cause damage (such as tree roots and settling) the one that is most common and also the easiest to repair is cracking. Although we can cut out and replace a large section of cracked concrete, if it's just a small area we will typically recommend filling it in with either some quick setting cement or epoxy material. Depending on how much you are willing to spend, this fill in will often be less costly than full replacement and do a great job of matching the look and texture of the existing concrete.

Raising Sunken Concrete

Another common problem with concrete is that, although it's a high strength material, it's only as strong as the base it's sitting on. If the base isn't strong enough to support or is inconsistent in that support, it will eventually collapse. We often see this in driveways where people may have driven heavy equipment over the concrete or if the concrete wasn't mixed properly (too much water will make any concrete mix very weak). Or places where the ground sinks, or contracts and expands regularly. There are several ways to fix this problem. One is to dig out the weak area and put in a new footing. The other is to build up the sunken area using either quick setting cement or epoxy material. Injecting this material from the top also has the added benefit of being able to place it where you need it.

Concrete Pool Deck Repair

Another area we often see concrete repairs is around a pool. Usually this means the coping (the part that goes around the edge of the pool) and/or decking (where you walk). If left alone, these areas will continue to settle and crack making them hazardous and unsightly. It's very important to keep water from seeping in and pool chemicals from damaging even more of the concrete. Don't delay, contact us today!

Concrete Surface Repairs

Another area we've seen a lot of is on concrete surfaces, such as sidewalks and patios. Many times these areas will show cracking both from shift in the base and from age and weathering. Like driveway repair, if it's just a small area you'll typically want to fill it first with either quick setting cement or epoxy material (depending on how deep it is). The advantage of using epoxy material is that you can color it to match the existing concrete, making the area almost disappear.

Concrete Slab Repair

Of course, one of the most common areas you'll see concrete repair is around slabs where they meet another slab or an existing surface. Once again these are typically places with shifting foundations or poor drainage. Fill in the area with quick setting cement or epoxy material. If you can't see any drainage problems, most of these repairs will hold up to the weather and last for years. Competitive Concrete Contractors is all about creating the strongest, most beautiful concrete structures and forms for your home or commercial location. Whether you're looking to add on a stamped concrete patio or outdoor living space in the backyard, add or replace your driveway, or have epoxy floor coatings done, we can create something that fits perfectly with what's going on around it and meets any specifications needed. With us you'll find cash discounts, financing options, and more. Few contractors in the country, much less the Greater Vancouver area, work harder than us to deliver amazing customer experiences.

The quoting stage is fairly straight forward but shouldn't be underestimated. So many bad reviews and negative press could be avoided if more contractors took the time to truly listen to their customers. At CCC, we prioritize listening to you so we fully understand 1) What you want, 2) What's in the budget, 3) How we're going to make those two things match so we can fully match goals, expectations, and results. This is the only way to do it to predictably get great results and amazing reviews from our customer base.

After the details have been worked out and the plans set, there's only one thing left to do. We'll follow the agreed upon plan closely and if any changes need to be made, you will be consulted beforehand to ensure everything is the way you want it when the project is done. We've learned that nothing replaces good old fashioned communication so if this is a project with many steps and a longer time frame than a simple step, sidewalk, or smaller project, we promise to keep you up to date and in the loop with all major steps.

Most companies say that every job is equally important, but the truth is that a $300 step isn't the same as a $30,000 project that incorporates slab work, stamped concrete, stains, decoration, etc. But with a great concrete contractor that doesn't mean your $300 step is going to suck. With the right company, there will be plenty of catches to make sure every job, small or big, is completed at or above your expectations. The review process is how we insure that happens with each and every customer of ours.
